Most reliable and accurate method of timing. Transponders can be placed almost anywhere in the car and a loop of wire is placed under or over the track to pick up the signals.

Infrared (IR)

Low cost and capable systems. Transponders need to have direct sight to a bridge above the track. Transponders are not compatible between brands.

IRIS (InfraRed Identification System) - A system we made in the early 2000s but did not actively sell. A few systems were sold by word of mouth, all of which were hand assembled. Still used today by several clubs but specific infrared parts are discontinued.

IRIS 2 Designed for local clubs and tracks where a full transponder system is not economical. The system should be available April 2022 for £100 and transponders supplied at £10
